REBUILDING LONDON’S COMMUNITIES
June 2013
Housing Manifesto for the 2014 Borough Elections
“Homes, jobs and growth will be centre stage in our economic strategy to rebuild our country.”
Jack Dromey MP, Shadow Housing Minister, speaking at the LLHG Policy Conference in April 2013.
Background
London Labour Housing Group was launched in January 2011 at a meeting at the House of Commons of 200 members of London Labour Party. It prepared policy proposals for the manifesto for the mayoral election and worked with the Labour Party to campaign on housing issues during the election.
In April 2013 we held a policy conference attended by 120 London Labour Party members including Jack Dromey MP, Karen Buck MP, Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock, and housing experts from around the Capital. Intensive workshops hammered out potential policies for Labour for the 2014 Borough Elections.
This report reflects the earlier work done by LLHG and the debate at the Conference. We hope it will help Labour Parties around London to develop effective and attractive housing policies for inclusion in their manifestoes. It is also our contribution to the Labour Party’s policy review.
